Different modes

When recruiting participants using inclusive characteristics you may also need to consider using different modes for recruitment depending on the nature of the characteristics being collected. For example:

  • Virtual interviews allow participants to be within their own space and with their own tools to help them such as screen readers for those with visual impairments.
  • Telephone interviews allow participants with physical accessibility concerns the benefit of convenience and flexibility of staying in their home environments.
  • In-person interviews can be better environments to obtain sensitive information that might be awkward or difficult to obtain via other means. In-person allows participants to self-complete some elements of recruitment screeners and also a confidential space to ask questions if participants have concerns.
